Before heading out to any stores or looking in your “donate
pile” at home, you need to get ideas. Lots of ideas. So many ideas that you
begin to start seeing potential projects all around you. The best place for me to
get ideas is from Pinterest, there are thousands upon thousands of pins about
repurposing and DIY projects. In fact, there are so many pins, pictures, and tutorials
that you may be overwhelmed at first but you must learn to navigate through the
access and get to what you really want, especially if you are going to be
entering any thrift or antique stores any time soon.
It is important to have an idea of what you want, but not
essential because sometimes you find the best things when you aren’t looking
for them. I always start by looking at what I have and exploring what has been
shut away and forgotten about in my closets, basement, and attics. Always be
sure to check with everyone in your home before using something for a repurposing
project to be sure that you will not be destroying a wanted item.
